HIGH VIS DOES THE BIZ
150 high visibility jackets have been distributed to retail businesses throughout the city centre, they have been provided for uniformed loss prevention and security officers for use in case of an emergency.
The initiative was put together by Tony Jopson, Business Crime Reduction Manager at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, while the funding for the jackets was provided by the central Liverpool Business Improvement District.
Tony commented: "Every business should have an incident management plan that can be put into place quickly to cope with any situation that could affect customers or visitors. In the event of an incident where people require instructions, it is essential that any control is identified and established quickly. The jackets will be key to ensuring that security staff are easy to identify and will more effective in offering reassurance and directions if needed."

"They are especially useful when at times when there are a lot of visitors in the city, we find our staff also spend time giving tourism information and the vests make it clear that they can provide assistance.
"We have taken part in hotel focused anti-terrorism training at Liverpool Chamber and following on from this, these vests are also ideal for helping the team take charge of an emergency situation such as evacuation and fire alarms."
Hard Days Night Hotel says: "Its a very positive thing, it makes the staff stand out, acting as a deterrent to crime while at special events such as Beatles Day and the Matthew Street Festival it’s clear that they are in a position of responsibility.
