13TH-18TH SEPTEMBER FOOD & DRINKS EVENTS IN VARIOUS BARS, RESTAURANTS AND VENUES AROUND THE CITY

Liverpool’s festival of food returns for third year

The Liverpool Food and Drink Festival 2010 is now in its third year.

2009's festival saw over 30,000 foodies enjoy the launch event, with celebrity chef Marco Pierre White overseeing proceedings.

This year’s Festival launch day will take place in Sefton Park on Sunday 12th September, where tourists and city region residents alike rub-shoulders and share in good food, drink, music and company.

Over 80 of the top bars and restaurants in the city will be showcasing their culinary delights alongside specialist food and drink producers.

Organised by Liverpool-based event management company, SK Events, the day will include celebrity chef appearances and a live kitchen theatre with demonstrations from local chefs including James Martin (TV’s Saturday Kitchen) Paul Heathcote (Simply Heathcotes / The Olive Press), Liverpool’s own Paul Askew of The London Carriage Works, Ian Pengelley, Head Chef of Pan-Asian restaurant Gilgamesh based in Camden, London and 16-year old Luke Thomas, one of Britain’s rising culinary stars!

This year sees the introduction of a Champagne tent and VIP area, sponsored
by The Noble House, plus there’s an interactive children’s zone, sponsored by Family Go Live Magazine. Packed full of educational and creative activities to keep budding chefs occupied for hours, Love Food Hate Waste will be hosting a ‘grow your own garden’ along with ‘Chefs adopt a school’ who will be teaching youngsters the essential basics of food preparation.

The launch day is followed by a week’s programme of themed days and events taking place in participating bars and restaurants around Liverpool, supporting the message of 2010’s Year of Health and Wellbeing.

With dining deals including half price and £15 a head offers, this is your

opportunity to book a restaurant that you have always wanted to try.

There are plenty of innovative events also, such as Speed Dining, a fast and furious table-hop from restaurant to restaurant where you can call in and have small taster size portions, then move on – trying a different place for each course! (All the participating restaurants’ details are on the festival website, or keep a look out for the festival window stickers)

The week in detail:

Monday 13th September – Enjoy half price dining in all participating festival restaurants

Tuesday 14th September - Girl's Night Out – Why not hit the cinema and then enjoy a catch-up over supper with the girls?

Wednesday 15th September - £15 a head dining in participating restaurants. Forget the three tenors, three fivers are all you need for today’s offer.

Thursday 16th September - Speed Dining – it’s fast and furious! Table hop from restaurant to restaurant across the city, sampling Tapas sized portions of house specialities

Friday 17th September - From Desk to Dine - a promotion to encourage the city's business community to enjoy early bird menus in Festival restaurants and to stay out in the city

Saturday 18th September - Let's do lunch (or brunch!) Grab family and friends and enjoy some quality time over great food and drink.

With all this foodie fun only a matter of weeks away, if you’re thinking of dining out in Liverpool at any point this Summer, take up the offers and make sure that you do it during festival week!
